Venture Concept 2

1. In my first venture concept I explained that there has always been a need for improvement within the healthcare community. Many lower class and poverty driven areas are left in the dust when it comes to healthcare. Many can not afford health insurance and in the case that they can afford it there insurance package is nothing of value. Affordable insurance plans often include extremely high deductible payments as well as little to no coverage. It has been proven that in these areas of poverty, obesity, heart disease, heart attacks, diabetes and many more health concerns are at an all time high due to lack of insurance, financial stability and healthcare awareness. Financial burden is on of the main reasons people don't take an active hand in their healthcare insurance. I worked in a healthcare clinic that is a non profit organization that caters to the underinsured and no insured patients. Throughout my time there I experienced and noticed the need for a better outreach regarding program and insurance plans that would benefit these people. Many of these people are not only in these lower poverty areas but sometimes homeless and lack the knowledge of programs that will help them. Another common problem is the lack of schooling makes it hard for these people to fill out and understand these lengthy applications. By allowing a representative fluent in a patients first language there available for appointment to sit down with these patients and fully explain healthcare aspects, as well as sit with them walking them through the applications step by step will benefit the patient. The lack of awareness in these communities is sad and someone has to be one fighting in their corner. My service will partner with insurance companies and clinics to provide a representative in each location there for patients to make an appointment to get all the information needed, an questions answered, and to know their options and plans for healthcare insurance or government assisted program that they might qualify for. This will be offered in different languages to cater best to each patients needs. I truly do see a need for my service and others have expressed this as a need as well. My service will go hand and hand with clinics and insurance companies to better serve the people which in turn will not only benefit the patient but the insurance companies, clinics and improve health care.

As of right now and what I know is that there is no other service catering like mine is trying too. There are ones like it such as Medicare and Medicaid representatives come out to clinics and help patients get approved. The problem with this is and this is where my product comes in is many people who need the financial assistance or the healthcare insurance don't meet the requirements to be approved for Medicare and Medicaid. Leaving the patients that don't qualify still at a disadvantage. My product which is a service can help improve this would be around for a long time and only improve over time to cater to each patient personally. These improvements would include not only helping with insurance but helping with other government assisted programs. To be able to provide the best hands on knowledge would definitely help so many people. The need for this and the problem has always existed and will continue to exist but my service will provide an action plan to help and by helping even one person has already changed someone's life, provide income to insurance companies and clinics as well started taking a step to improve the healthcare industry.

2. I was told I need to find a better way to create a profit, that my idea might be giving and not receiving enough. Although this might be true I'm not one hundred percent sure how I would pave the way for more profit. My product is mostly service but I did add some of the improvements such as many different language accommodations. I would allow us to be complete representative allowing for the patient to receive the most benefits.

3. The way I changed it as discussed before was adding language accommodations and allowing the patient to receive the most out of my service. Again like said before still trying to identify a way to allow for more profit. I did also suggest that clinics could pay us to provide our services or these patients.

"Final Reflection"

1. This semester has been a difficult one, not just with the class but in general. I think a few highs through this semester in this class would include really learning how to think a further step when coming to business concepts and the idea of your overall product. I enjoyed reading about other peoples product; some people have really good ideas that I feel I could really see implemented. A few lows throughout this semester would definitely be racing to the deadline because I decided to wait to the day of to do all the assignments. I definitely dreaded the fact that assignments were due at 12 in the afternoon as well as some assignments were so long I didn't even want to do them anymore. I think my absolute least favorite thing was the cupcakes because lectures were so long, by the end I forgot most of the stuff said in the beginning.

2. My most memorable experience throughout this course was "What's your Secret Sauce" assignment. During the time that assignment was due I was going through a rough time and to have the most important people tell me what made me special and the good qualities I processed felt amazing especially during that time. The assignment I am most proud of myself for competing is all the elevator pitches due to being really nervous and anxious about recording myself on camera.

3. I definitley would not say I have one hundred percent an entrepreneurial mindset but I definitely feel I am a lot closer. This class has take me out of my comfort zone and pushed me to think more logically as well as outside of the box more. I learned to think in terms of audience and profit. This class also allowed to go out on a limb and try participating in a business selling Monat products.

4.  The tips I would give to anyone taking this class in the future is to really invest your self and learn as much as possible; I definitely learned a lot but I know I could of learned more. I would obviously suggest not to wait to do all the assignments the day they are due, it definitely is a struggle. I would also say I know college is stressful and this is not your only class but the more invested you get with this class the more beneficial.

Exit Strategy

1. My product and business a service so my exit strategy would be to continue with the business. I hope to expand my business. It would be really cool if we could add more features and services we offer as well not only serving Orlando or Gainesville but all of Florida and eventually expand to different states. I hope to only improve as the years go by and be able to help more and more people as well as clinics, insurance companies and the healthcare field. I sit here and talk about expanding and only improving but what I never want my business to forget is we are the people and patients are main concern and we are here for them. My other hope is to become a household name hopefully offer jobs to people in need.

2.  My reasoning behind my exit plan is the more I can expand to different places and states the more people I can help. The same goes for adding more services will only allow my business to help more people and more in depth. Being able to help people is my whole aspect and drive of the business service I have created.

3. I think my exit strategy highlights my expansion and the goal of my business. The goal is to help people especially the under represented as well as expanding my business to reach a bigger and broader audience. Seeing the potential of my service and how it an positively influence the community is what drives me to want to expand and keep it going and I can only hope other people see my same vision. I plan to acquire and put my plan into action by starting off small and building my team, marketing and expanding my audience.

Reading Reflection 3

1. The book I chose for my third reading reflection was "The Art of Social Media" by Guy Kawasaki. Guy Kawasaki is a former apple employee but most importantly he is marketer. He was responsible for Macintosh marketing. This book his guide to social media and how to make your output business like. Throughout this whole book he explains how to succeed and get where you need to be through your social media aspect. To me it was a book on how to be your own marketer because Kawasaki gives step by step process and examples.

2. I really did enjoy this book and actually recommended this book to a friend of mine who is an advertising major and really invested in her social media presence. This book was different from the ones I chose before because the prior two I have done were mostly focused on the failures and the process and journey to getting where they got today but this one was mainly focused on how to make you and your brand great. I think it was a really cool book and liked how it was like a teaching manual.

3. If I had to create an exercise from this I would make it similar to what we have now, doing the blog post. It would be so cool to make an Instagram or Facebook and throughout the semester do activities following along in the book aa well as criteria posting on social media and creating  a brand. I think it would be a cool way to put the book into action and might really benefit a lot of the students.

4. Something I found really interesting was that he put all his knowledge into three wide lessons. The lessons include, one, "treat your social media presence as a business", two, "give your fans the content they want not just what you want to create", and three, "Let different accounts talk to each other for cross promotion". These three subject  headings went in to greater detail but I just found it so fascinated how only three steps and hard work you can create an image viewed professionally by so many.

" Let's Fail"

Failure to me means only room for improvement, but it has not always meant this to me. I have had a few failures in life that in the end all I wanted to do was give up. For example one I feel a quite a few people could relate to. I am currently in my second year about to be finished but in the process of failing Gen Chem 1 for the second time. School has always come so easy to me, it did not take a lot of effort to pull A's each and every time. My freshman year taking chemistry, I felt like no matter how much I studied and no matter how long I stood up and redid every problem I kept failing each and every exam. I felt defeated especially when I would hear others say "it was so easy". At the end of that year I eventually had to drop it and take it again this year. I thought for sure since I was taking it a second time, this would be a lot easier but I found myself still struggling. I started to go to every office hour, bought study edge and started studying with friends. Although I will say I have improved it has not been enough to pass this class. This really did take a toll on me to know that I am trying so hard and still able to succeed with it. Due to this I have cried, rethought my major, rethought my placement here at UF  and felt horrible about myself. What I realized this year and especially in class is nothing worth doing comes easy. I learned I can fail 100 times but as long as I keep going I will be able to succeed, the key is to keep trying. I know it is not ideal to continue to keep taking classes again but I know what I want most in life and I will not cannot give up. This class has shown me that the greatest entrepreneurs have failed time after time again. I also decided and realized myself a little more throughout the course. I realized that the same way I reward myself for doing good such as going to ale house or going shopping, I can also use it as more motive and a keep trying reward. I beat myself up a lot when I fail and I need to realize it is ok and I have this class to thank for that. From my failure I not only learned to keep trying and find new ways to study and apply myself but I also learned it is ok as long as the next time I come back twice as strong. So yes, failure sucks, its scary, embarrassing and takes a toll on my emotions but I have overcome worse and will not give up. I will try to take all my failures as a lesson and fuel to drive the next attempt.

Venture Concept

Product Name: Healthcare Outreach Partners

There has always been a need for improvement within the healthcare community. Many lower class and poverty driven areas are left in the dust when it comes to healthcare. Many can not afford health insurance and in the case that they can afford it there insurance package is nothing of value. Many of the lower cost insurance packages include extremely high deductible payments as well little to no coverage. It has been proven that in these areas of poverty, obesity, heart disease, heart attacks, diabetes and many more health concerns are at an all time high. Many people to want to take care of their health but for the simple barrier such as financial burden is why they are unable or choose not to. I truly do see a need for my service and others have expressed this as a need as well. My service will go hand and hand with clinics and insurance companies to better serve the people witch in turn will not only benefit the patient but the insurance companies, clinics and improve health care.

There are ones like it such as Medicare and Medicaid representatives come out to clinics and help patients get approved. The problem with this is and this is where my product comes in is many people who need the financial assistance or the healthcare insurance don't meet the requirements to be approved for Medicare and Medicaid. The need for this and the problem has always existed and will continue to exist but my service will provide an action plan to help and by helping even one person has already changed someone's life, provide income to insurance companies and clinics as well started taking a step to improve the healthcare industry.

Whats Next?

Existing Market:

1. I would love to incorporate other government assisted programs to help with as well such as food stamps, welfare, and WIC. This will allow for patients to learn and get the help they need regarding financial assistance.

2. In terms of the community I am trying to cater to, I think they would appreciate adding representatives of multicultural backgrounds allowing them to speak the language they are most comfortable in, such as sign language, creole, Spanish etc.

3. I think the first step to take would be building a team, reaching out to clinics, the government as well as insurance companies asking for them to be apart of my service. By doing this I will have to talk to many people building the service as a whole.

- In summary I think I need to talk to more people in general of expanding my existing market to only improve it. This service is to provide an easier way to improve ones healthcare so in order to that on a personal level for everyone we need to figure out a wide variety of needs.

New Market:

1. I think the next community to reach would be businesses. Many businesses usually go with the first few insurance companies to offer them a deal hindering their employees. After a few workers comp cases insurance sky rockets for everyone leaving even the workers to lack their responsibility in their own healthcare.

2. This outreach can only expand my service allowing to also cater to insurance companies and businesses. This will allow for the best coverage for a better price to outweigh their options.

3. My interviewees would support this idea for the simple fact that sometimes company insurance is just as good as having no insurance. Many times deductibles are so high or the amount they take out of your check each month or every 2 weeks hinders a family.

4. Prior to this idea to improve using the new market I did not even think about reaching out to businesses as a whole. This will improve my service and allow for more people to benefit from my service.

- After this assignment I feel like my service can really benefit a wide variety of people. Allowing for the healthcare to improve while allowing more and more people to take control of their healthcare is a very good outcome that can be possible with my service.
